I think we use a contest account for a system that has been tested while we use a demo account for a new system that we are familiar with.

using a demo account or a contest account is different meaning you have to choose which one is your priority for the future I suggest you use a demo account only because your goal for trading is not to enter temporary competitions

use the contest account with the demo account in different situations When you want to test what you have been practicing on a demo account you can use a contest account but when you have never touched MetaTrader you should use a demo account only

If I prefer to use a demo account, because using a demo account we can relax to learn, usually for practice. Whereas for a contest account it is only for participating in competitions and it has no effectiveness for me.
