the demo account is devoted to strategy testing while the contest account is for taking part in tournaments well so that it has decent results

it's best if you use a demo account, be careful to distinguish using a demo account with a contest account

Always start with a demo account. It's the best hands on tool there is, why would anyone skip that step? It can help you avoid making common beginner mistakes and to gauge when you're really ready to go live versus jumping in head first.
