I often hear traders discussing Pattern and Harmonic patern charts. Actually what is the difference between the Patern and Harmonic Patern Chart?
The difference is quite clear if the Chart pattern is a chart pattern based on repetition of market patterns in the past and the pattern can be used to predict the direction the price will move. So mastery of this chart pattern is based on the appearance of the same or similar formation at a certain price. Examples of chart patterns are double top patterns, double bottom, head and souldher, flags and so on.
Harmonic pattern is a pattern that is formed based on certain comparisons or symmetries such as fibonanci symmetry. In finding the harmonic pattern we focus on the lowest point, highest point, reversal, retracement and extension. By knowing these points, we can find certain harmonic patterns as well as support and resistance levels to determine transaction entry. Examples of harmonic patterns are many such as butterfly patterns, ABC patterns, AB patterns = CDs, bat patterns, grab patterns and so on.
