This morning we saw GBPUSD rise by almost 350 pips
I see about 450 pips rise on GBPUSD. I am glad I closed my sell trades out in profit before that happened ;D

I had expected that the results of the UK election would have a big effect on the movements of the GBPUSD today

This effect does not only happen this time but the election and the failure of the previous brexit settlement also have a big effect, in fact the broker has warned of the effects of this election but there are still many traders who do not care about the risks. I have also been aware that the movement will start with an increase considering that many surveys have won the Boris Jhonson camp even though the landslide victory is unclear.

Today there will be an announcement of interest rates and a summary of the BoE monetary policy in December 2019 which will have a high impact on GBPUSD movements. for December 2019 it is estimated that the BoE will still maintain its benchmark interest rate at the level of + 0.75%. If the BoE lowers interest rates, GBP will weaken.

GBPUSD has a chance to move down in the short term as the ongoing sentiment fears the potential of Hard Brexit. Furthermore, today market participants will await the release of the UK manufacturing index data

Yesterday the GBPUSD fell because the IHS Markit research institute reported that the PMI score for the UK manufacturing sector fell from 48.9 to 47.5 in the results of the December survey, far lower than market expectations set at 47.6. In fact, a number below the 50 threshold indicates a condition of contraction or slowing.

today there will be a news release of UK Retail Sales in December 2019 which will have a high impact on GBP. UK total retail sales in November 2019 fell 0.6%, lower than the forecast of a 0.3% increase, and the lowest throughout 2019. While for the November annual basis it rose 1.0%, the lowest since April 2018. In November 2019 the decline the biggest occurred in food shop sales. For December 2019 it is estimated that total Retail Sales will rise by 0.5%, and will increase by 2.6%. Results released higher than expected will tend to cause GBP to strengthen.

GBPUSD
The weakening in the USD is related to the increasing number of corona virus infections.
Today's fundamentals are only about viruses that have affected the global economy, and the biggest impact now is America.
Thus for now it is better to buy on GBPUSD, because there is no good news about vaccines or drugs for this virus.
Short target of GBPUSD 1.24500
