The forex market operates 24 hours 5 days a week. For UK forex traders diving into the best hours for trading can provide the most effective times for trading.
Reporting from the FXOpen blog, the forex session times UK traders need to be aware of are:

  • Sydney Session: 9:00 PM GMT - 6:00 AM GMT
  • Tokyo Session: 11:00 PM GMT - 8:00 AM GMT
  • London Session: 8:00 AM GMT - 5:00 PM GMT
  • New York Session: 1:00 PM GMT - 10:00 PM GMT
Forex market trading times are important to know, as they indicate when liquidity and volatility tend to increase, thereby potentially offering favorable market conditions.

For UK traders, the best times to trade are the two important sessions of London and New York. This period is optimal forex market hours in the UK, offering greater volume, volatility, and liquidity. These periods are also the periods with the most data releases in the three main economic countries: the UK, the Eurozone, and the United States.

Meanwhile, the worst time for UK traders is at 20:00 GMT, at the end of business hours in New York, when liquidity and volume decrease significantly. This reduction in activity may result in less favorable trading conditions, including wider spreads and slower execution times.

You can learn more about the best time for UK traders on the FXOpen blog published on March 11, 2024, with the article titled "Is There the Best Time to Trade Forex in the UK?"

Many traders say that the best time for trading is actually American hours and not European hours, but even though that is true, in my opinion, the one who determines trading hours is actually ourselves and is not influenced by the market because the forex market is always open 24 hours.
