There?s been growing interest in DePIN lately as the Web3 space keeps exploring alternatives to centralized infrastructure. Projects like POKT, GRASS and others are leading the way in this area.
Take for example, Pocket Network as known POKT, they are about decentralized RPC infrastructure since it connects developers to a distributed network of full nodes letting apps and services interact with blockchains like Ethereum, Solana and dozens of others without relying on centralized providers like Infura or Alchemy.
What?s interesting about POKT is the scale. They?ve got supported access to over 30 blockchains. Developers pay for this access in POKT tokens while node operators stake POKT to serve traffic and claim rewards. Every relay generates some POKT, a share of which accrues to the node operator, to the DAO and other stakeholders. It?s a model that incentivizes uptime and performance, sort of like how bandwidth was approached by Helium but also focused on blockchain data.
Nonetheless, POKT is part of a growing list of DePIN projects showing up on exchanges like Bitget and others, as it has been recently listed and they?ve actually been building out a DePIN zone with other infrastructure projects, which makes that a lot of interest seeing in DePIN.
As with anything in Web3, there?s still a long way to go, but I think POKT is one of the clearer examples of a working DePIN use case. What do you guys think of this concept and the project itself?
